WHO SHOULD ATTEND SEMI-PERMANENT?

It's fairly simple really, anyone who is interested in creativity in a visual sense should attend Semi-Permanent. Our speakers come from a diverse range of design/art related fields; Graphic Design, illustration, film making, photography, publishing, street art, visual effects, motion graphics, fine art, web design, broadcasting, advertising and more are, and have been, represented at Semi-Permanent. If you work in any of these fields or simply have an interest in them then attending Semi-Permanent would be well worth your while.

Semi-Permanent is an excellent source of inspiration. Our speakers are at the top of their respective fields and share the experience and expertise they have gained getting to that position. If you are a young designer or student, or even an experienced designer, seeing the presentations can be an invaluable insight into the industry, showing new styles and techniques and perhaps pushing you and your work in new directions.

HOW DO WE CHOOSE OUR EVENT SPEAKERS?

We'd like to say that it's complicated, that we go through an elaborate process with months and months of screening and research. That there are large and intricate formulas involved. But this is simply not the case. We choose our speakers by basically keeping an eye on whats happening in the world of art, design, film and anything else interesting. We jot down the people that we think would make good speakers. People that are not only very talented, but also who we think will have an interesting story to tell. We try to make sure that we have a diverse range of speakers involved, plus we try to have a good balance of 'big names' and those that are lesser known, but no less talented. We ask them to speak, and thankfully most say yes!

WHAT IS THE SEMI-PERMANENT BOOK?

The SP book has been published each year since the first Semi-Permanent event in 2003. The book is given out free to attendees that buy a 2-Day ticket to the Sydney event, and to all ticket holders at one day events such as Perth & Brisbane. We realise that it is important for attendees to take a piece of the event home with them, the book allows people do so. It's a great book to keep on your desk when your in need of some inspiration.
